The property is in a prominent location at the entrance to the Hauderboschen residential area. It is surrounded by roads on three sides and, together with the neighboring high-rise building, marks the entrance to the urban quarter. This situation means that the building has to take on both contextual and solitary functions. The two-storey nursery is designed as an octagon with edges parallel to the surrounding streets and buildings. Six of the corners are designed as convex outer corners and thus strengthen the solitary quality of the daycare center. On the east and west sides, on the other hand, the corners are designed as concave inner corners, creating an inviting spatial situation and thus interlocking the building with its surroundings. The new building is a solid construction made of large-format precast concrete elements. The outer facing shell is colored in three slightly varying shades to create a tactile surface quality. The joining of the large-scale façade elements is subtly reminiscent of stacking building blocks. Monochrome felt curtains and oak parquet flooring create a homely atmosphere inside.
