New project: Educational center in Rottenburg am Neckar

Architectural photographer Brigida González photographed our new project, the “Educational Center in Rottenburg am Neckar.”

The new building’s volume and façade design directly reference its historic neighbor, a listed school building dating from 1887.

Commendation in the Markt Mering Town Hall Competition

Congratulations to our competition team - our design for the “New Town Hall Building and Surrounding Area in Markt Mering,” which we developed in collaboration with Koeber Landscape Architecture and wh-p Consulting Engineers, has been awarded a commendation!

The jury, chaired by Rainer Hofmann (bogevischs buero, Munich), stated: “The three elongated, three-story structures with gabled roofs blend quite harmoniously into the urban fabric.”

Groundbreaking ceremony for the Protestant Community Center in Kochendorf

We are delighted to mark the start of a project that began back in 2019: Together with Mayor Timo Frey and Parish Council Chair Pascal Holzwarth, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Protestant Community Center in Kochendorf (Bad Friedrichshall) took place on Monday.

Located right next to St. Sebastian’s Church, our new building will become an important part of the town center.

XLAB Meeting Center for young researchers in Göttingen officially opened

We are delighted to announce the completion of a new project: On April 15, 2026, our new XLAB Foundation Meeting Center was officially opened in the presence of numerous guests.
On the campus of the University of Göttingen, in the immediate vicinity of our XLAB experimental laboratory completed in 2004, a new complex has been built. With seminar rooms, common areas, and a residential wing (with approximately 50 beds), it promotes learning, living, and exchange among young people and researchers from the research institutes, while closely connecting them with one another.

Ceremonial inauguration of the Education Center in Rottenburg

On Saturday, February 28, 2026, the grand opening of the Education Center, which includes an adult education center, music school, and daycare center, took place in Rottenburg.

Accompanied by a variety of music, the new premises were officially opened in the presence of Mayor Stephan Neher. Congratulations to our team on the completion of the new building!

The Association of German Architects BDA Münster-Münsterland has published a review of Thorsten Kock's lecture “Architecture in Context” on its website.

New publication of Hochschule Geisenheim University

Our project for the Geisenheim University campus was published in the “Competitions Followed Up” section of the online edition of “wettbewerbe aktuell.”

Following our success in the 2017 competition, we were able to complete the three new buildings - the lecture hall building, logistics laboratory, and beverage technology center - this year.

Grand opening of the vocational school in Regensburg

In the presence of Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer and Education Officer Sabine Kellner-Mayrhofer, we celebrated the grand opening of our extension to the Georg Kerschensteiner Vocational School in Regensburg last Friday.

Headmaster Alfons Koller was enthusiastic about the new rooms and emphasized: “We are now playing in the Champions League.”

3rd prize in the Bildungscampus West competition in Saarbrücken

Congratulations to our competition team – our design for the Bildungscampus West in Saarbrücken, which we developed together with merz kley partner and freiraumconcept sinz-beerstecher+böpple Landschaftsarchitekten, was awarded 3rd prize. We are delighted!

The competition results will be on display until November 18, 2025 (Monday–Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.) at Software AG, 2nd floor, Altenkesselerstraße 17/C2, 66115 Saarbrücken.

Two Commendations at the Westphalian Prize for Building Culture 2025

We are delighted to have received two commendations at the Westphalian Prize for Building Culture 2025: Both the Council and Community Hall in Holzwickede and the Anneliese Brost Music Forum Ruhr in Bochum received an award.

From 197 submitted projects in the fields of urban development, architecture, and open space planning, an independent jury selected a total of 5 prizes and 10 commendations.

Commendation in the Lippstadt City Museum competition

Congratulations to our competition team: Our design for the extension of the City Museum in Lippstadt, which we developed with ST raum a. Landschaftsarchitektur (Berlin), received a commendation!

“The work develops a very clear urban planning concept in which the market square is defined as a spatial continuum that respects all edges of the square equally. [...] Inside, the building impresses with its clear spatial structure, both in terms of floor plan design and vertical development,” said the jury, chaired by Holger Rübsamen (Bochum).

Lecture by Thorsten Kock in Ludwigsburg

As part of the event series "10 Years of the Design Advisory Board", Thorsten Kock will give a lecture in Ludwigsburg.
Petra Zeese (Zeese Stadtplanung+Architektur) and Matthias Schuster (Lehen drei) will also report on their practical experiences at the event, which was initiated by the Ludwigsburg city administration.

New project: Geisenheim University

Architectural photographer Brigida González photographed our latest project, the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences.

We were able to construct three new buildings on the university campus: the lecture hall building and the logistics laboratory, as well as the GTZ Beverage Technology Center, which is considered the most important component for the practical training of future beverage technologists.

News from the Grugapark in Essen: Planning contract signed

In a press release from the city of Essen, the signing of the planning contract was highlighted as an important milestone for the “Entrance and restaurant building in Grugapark” project.

The new building not only makes a clear architectural statement, it also stands for a “responsible approach to the environment and resources”.

German Lighting Design Award 2025 for the town hall and community center in Holzwickede

And the winner is: The Holzwickede town hall and community center was awarded the German Lighting Design Award 2025 in the category “Indoor Lighting / Public Areas”. In collaboration with ZWP-Ingenieur AG, which was responsible for the lighting concept, the renovation and extension of the historic town hall received this prominent award.

2nd prize in the Dresden-Süd police station competition

Congratulations to our competition team: Our design for the New accommodation for Dresden South Police Station, which we developed with Jetter Landschaftsarchitekten, Henne & Walter (HVS planning) and Müller & Bleher (electrical planning), was awarded 2nd prize! We are very pleased about this!

The competition results will be presented until July 25, 2025 (Mon.-Fri. from 8:00-18:00) in the central hall of the Saxon State Ministry of Finance, Carolaplatz 1, 01097 Dresden.
