2nd prize in the competition Institute Building of the HTWG Konstanz

We are happy about the 2nd prize in the competition "New institute building, workshop and laboratory of the HTWG Konstanz".

"The competition design is a very successful contribution that cleverly combines the themes of sustainable construction and functional requirements," was the verdict of the jury chaired by Markus Hammes.

Mainzer Tor in Miltenberg added to the MATERIAL ARCHIVE collection

Our project "Mainzer Tor - Museum Depot, City Archive and Youth Center in Miltenberg" was published in the collection "Material Archive" as an exemplary application for "Red Main Sandstone" and "Profile Building Glass".

The Material Archive is a network whose current ten members from Switzerland and Germany - including ETH Zurich, ZHAW Winterthur and Burg Giebichenstein Halle - develop and process information about materials and communicate it to experts and the general public.

Competition Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma in Heidelberg published on german-architects

The online platform German Architects has published an interview with Martin Bez on the competition Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma in Heidelberg.

Martin Bez describes the central architectural theme of the design as "the conclusive combination of a functionally coherent interior figure with an external appearance that creates an identity and is compatible with the city."

Competition Charlottenburg Palace in db Deutsche Bauzeitung

In the current issue of db Deutsche Bauzeitung (10 / 2021), architectural journalist Ulf Meyer reports on the competition "Schloss Charlottenburg - Besucherzentrum und Umbau zum zentralen Besucherempfang" (Charlottenburg Palace - Visitor Center and Conversion to Central Visitor Reception) under the title "Stahl, Glas und Kappendecke" (Steel, Glass and Capped Ceiling), in which our design was awarded 1st prize.

Museum and Culture Forum in Arnsberg receives the BDA Architecture Award North Rhine-Westphalia 2021 in Gold

A really nice surprise: From the 10 winners of the Architecture Award North Rhine-Westphalia 2021 recently selected by the BDA (Association of German Architects), the BDA members have chosen the main prize winner in a written ballot. Since our Museum and Cultural Forum South Westphalia in Arnsberg received the most votes, it has now been awarded the BDA Architecture Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia 2021 in Gold at the Maxhaus in Düsseldorf.

Hard to believe, but true: This means that our museum in Arnsberg is repeating the success of our Music Forum in Bochum, which received this important award from the BDA in 2018 - and we are very happy about that!

Save the Date: Thorsten Kock is Keynote Speaker at the Creative Days in Stuttgart

From October 15 to 21, 2021, the Creative Days organized by poonam designers Studio will take place in Stuttgart.

At the symposium "The future of the Cities - Beyond Architecture" on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. at the Haus der Architekten, Thorsten Kock will give a lecture.

Not only are current projects presented, but above all personal insights into one's own living and working environment are shown.

Kick-off at Geisenheim University: Groundbreaking ceremony for two new buildings on campus

In the presence of Science Minister Angela Dorn, Finance Minister Michael Boddenberg and Prof. Dr. Hans Reiner Schultz, President of Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Beverage Technology Center and a new lecture hall building at Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences took place yesterday during a festive act.

"Both new buildings are part of a comprehensive reorganization and sustainable expansion of the university campus," said Finance Minister Michael Boddenberg. With the sustainably designed new buildings, the university, which was founded in 2013, receives important milestones for the further development of the campus.

In a 10-year ranking published by the competition platform competitionline, our office occupies an excellent 8th place.

For the long-term ranking, all rankings in planning competitions from 2011 to 2020 were evaluated.

New Publication: Competition "Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma in Heidelberg" in wettbewerbe aktuell

The current issue (September 2021) of the magazine wettbewerbe aktuell published an article about our successful competition design for the Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma in Heidelberg.

The competition task consisted primarily of "accommodating a large building volume on a site of small size in a functionally sensible way and sensitively linking it with the existing building, which is a protected historical monument (...)."

Great news from Heidelberg: 1st prize in the "Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma" competition

To our great pleasure, our competition entry for the "Extension of the Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma in Heidelberg" was also awarded 1st prize!

"The ratio of open to closed areas along the facades is convincing as a well-proportioned and clearly defined composition", judged the jury chaired by Prof. Markus Neppl.

Until August 1st, all competition designs can be viewed at the Documentation and Cultural Center during regular opening hours of the permanent exhibition.

Great competition success: Visitor Center and Conversion to Central Visitor Reception Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin

We are very pleased to have been awarded 1st prize in the competition "Visitor Center and Conversion to Central Visitor Reception Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin".

"With the two planted roof terraces and the filigree steel and glass architecture, the new visitor center is an eye-catching attraction without having to compete with the architectural monuments with superficial gestures", was the verdict of the jury chaired by Prof. Arno Lederer.

The competition entries will be on display in the special exhibition rooms in the New Wing of Charlottenburg Palace until July 25, 2021.

And the winners are... Award at the BDA Architecture Prize North Rhine-Westphalia 2021

We are very pleased about the award at the BDA Architecture Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia 2021: Our Museum and Cultural Forum in Arnsberg is one of the "ten best buildings in NRW".

"The exciting sequence of spaces as well as intriguing pathways and visual relationships, which provide impressive views of the city and the region, contribute to the special atmosphere of this site, as does the exceptionally high quality of materials and details," judged the jury chaired by Prof. Karin Schmid from Munich.

New publication: Museum and Cultural Forum in Arnsberg in the DAB German Architects' Journal

In the current issue (June 2021) of DAB German Architects' Journal, Christoph Gunßer has published an article about the Museum and Cultural Forum in Arnsberg.

Together with the John Cranko Ballet School in Stuttgart by Burger Rudacs Architects, two cultural buildings are presented here that were erected on a steep sloped lot while "cutting a timeless good figure."

New project: German Embassy Chisinau / Republic of Moldova

We are pleased to have been awarded the contract in the negotiated procedure for the new building of the German Embassy in Chisinau / Republic of Moldova.

On the site, which was acquired by the Federal Republic of Germany, the Chancellery and Residence are to be housed in a joint new building. The new building will integrate a listed house damaged by earthquakes, built in 1887 as a residence and converted into a school in 1913.

Mainzer Tor in Miltenberg published on divisare.com

We are happy about a new publication: The Italian online platform "divisare" has published our project "Mainzer Tor - Museum Depot, City Archive and Youth Center in Miltenberg".

The new building at the foot of the Schlossberg replaces a car dealership at the western entrance to the city that has been abandoned for several years.

The film team of 9sekunden from Osnabrück has set the scene for our Museum and Cultural forum in Arnsberg in an atmospheric five-minute video.

"Experiencing space takes movement and time. As if through a personal experience on site, moving stills can reveal those aspects of space, which are hidden between the lines", the filmmakers point out .

Nominated for the BDA Architecture Award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia

We are pleased: The BDA Bund Deutscher Architektinnen und Architekten (Association of German Architects) has nominated our Museum and Cultural Forum in Arnsberg for the BDA Architecture Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia 2021.

A total of 33 projects have qualified to take part in this architecture award. The jury will select the winners on June 22, 2021 in the Liebfrauenkirche in Duisburg.

Concept for a House for Dance and Choreography in Berlin

Exciting task for our office: Together with Lisa Densem, Ulrike Kunert, Moritz Majce, Shahrzad Rahmani and Frans Swarte, we were commissioned by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe to create a concept for a future House for Dance and Choreography in Berlin.

Over the next eight months, our interdisciplinary team will develop a content concept for a place of encounter and movement - a place of art, experimentation and research.

BDA Award for the Museum and Cultural Forum South Westphalia in Arnsberg

Great success for the Museum and Cultural Forum South Westphalia in Arnsberg: At the BDA Architecture Prize South Westphalia 2020 our project received an award.

"The result is a striking museum that enriches the city of Arnsberg in its historic center in an extraordinarily successful way with a modern and emblematic building," was the jury's verdict.

In the BDA Architecture Prize, which is presented every three years, the jury assigned only one award and two honorable mentions.

Honorable mention in the competition "Extension of the Dresden University of Music"

Good news from Dresden: Our competition design for the extension of the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden received a honorable mention. "The House for Music appears to be an independent solitaire on the outside, but on the inside, especially in the foyer area, it cleverly blends into an interior unity with the existing building," was the jury's verdict.

A total of 23 works were submitted to this competition, 3 prizes and 2 honorable mentions were awarded.
