The expansive Mönchsteinplatz does not live up to its importance as the urban center of Mönchfeld due to its lack of urbanity. To remedy this, a second building body that limits the space will be placed opposite the existing commercial building, giving the square the missing spatial framework. The building houses all publicly relevant functions, including a church, parish office, community rooms, and a daycare center. Mönchsteinplatz is being strengthened and revitalized, and the parish of St. Maria Vianney will have an address on the square. The rectangular new building occupies a square that is divided into volumes of varying heights and three recessed courtyards. There are attractive and differentiated spatial situations for each individual functional area, and yet the church community center is also perceived as a cohesive whole. The residential development will be placed along the eastern slope edge with a wonderful view over the Neckar Valley.
