The new building recedes a few meters from the Riedbergallee to the north, creating a forecourt that forms a counterpart to the Riedbergplatz diagonally opposite. Together with the Otto Stern Center, it forms the entrance to the southern part of the Riedberg campus. The building was developed as a staggered block with four inner courtyards, whose oblique-angled edges accompany the adjacent streets and squares. The four quadrants of the building are between 2 and 5 storeys high, with the highest component marking the address-forming square situation at the north-west corner. In keeping with its volumetric sharp edges, the new building is clad with large-format steel panels, whose precision and seriality characterize the strictly timed façade of the building. The galvanized surface has a varied texture that alternates between shiny and matt and whose appearance varies depending on the position of the sun and the time of year.
