The neo-Gothic church of St. Maria will first be stripped of its numerous conversions and installations. In a second step, the spatial and lighting concepts of the neo-Gothic period are then taken up using contemporary means: Translucent curtains made of metal mesh in the former pillar axes and the centrally arranged yew wood stalls take up the original three-aisled structure and the vertical spatial proportions of the church. The emphasis on the distinctive spatial sequence of churchyard, gallery, nave, altar area and choir restores the original clarity of St. Mary's.
