The steep pitched roof of the listed old building becomes the design-defining factor of the new Südstadt Forum, whose striking roof landscape reinterprets the existing geometry. Old and new merge formally into a single, highly recognizable whole - also thanks to the dark-coloured plaster throughout. Inside, a vertically open room layer with a single flight of stairs on the outer wall facing the courtyard creates an open and communicative spatial structure. The box-type windows in the deep wall reveals of the classrooms become an integral part of the passive house concept.
