The Bavarian State Theater has three venues with a total of 1,500 seats in downtown Munich. On an average of 300 days a year, changing performances take place every day, and 25 to 30 new productions are created each year. A rehearsal and workshop center is being built to rehearse these productions and to produce the decorations required for them. The site is located in the Berg am Laim district of Munich, directly south of the A94 freeway. The L-shaped building is divided into two units. To the north is the workshop wing, to the south the rehearsal stage wing. Thus, the highly noise-generating use is separated from the highly protection-requiring use of the rehearsal stages. The arrangement of the workshop use to the north also protects the rehearsal stage wing from highway noise.
