The new building of the Sorbian Museum continues the perimeter block development of the eastern neighboring building on Lauengraben, but moves back a few meters from the western property line. This results in a striking building head, which formulates the access situation to the museum and at the same time the prelude to the passage running to the south. The chosen structural disposition creates a contextual solitaire whose urban presence functions independently of the still unclear structural development on the adjacent property to the west. The new building is inserted into the construction area as a clearly structured fitting piece, taking into account the necessary clearance areas, and accompanies the pedestrian passage running from north to south.
