The central idea of the project is the element of the wall, which is strongly rooted in traditional Omani architecture and is used here as a spatial divider (protecting against heat and violence), as a guiding and connecting element and as an atmospheric means (through light, shadow and haptics). Buildings, intermediate spaces and enclosures are equally defined by walls, creating a varied interplay of exterior and interior spaces, courtyards and gardens that cover the entire property like a patchwork. All masonry walls are made of whitewashed brickwork, combining traditional craftsmanship and quality with a high degree of durability and sensual appeal. The irregularly perforated walls can be read as a digital interpretation of Arabic ornamentation.
