The urban planning objective of the new building for the Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg is to create a building that represents the institution appropriately and independently in the urban space and is not perceived in its appearance as the result of building regulations. The volume develops around three inner courtyards arranged offset from one another, which descend from Babelsberger Strasse into the adjacent landscape. The spatial staggering of the components means that the main visual axes remain free, while at the same time the building interlocks with the open spaces along the Nuthe and Havel rivers. The majority of the offices benefit from a charming view across the Nuthepark to Potsdam's city center. At 6 storeys, the tallest part of the ensemble occupies the important urban edge on Babelsberger Strasse and defines its western end with a strong accent. Opposite the station exit, a spacious, identity-forming forecourt is formulated, from which the ILB is accessed.
