The existing educational campus at Rainbrunnen features a variety of different architectures and typologies. The word “campus” seems somewhat overused, as the buildings are more of a loose juxtaposition than a noticeable ensemble. The proposed extension aims to round off this urban situation by making reference to important building lines and open spaces. At the same time, the new buildings mediate between the different scales found on the site. New and old interlock to form a common whole. The two polygonal new buildings also interlock with the surrounding open space. The result is clearly recognizable wings for the different institutions, but also clearly allocated open spaces between the individual wings of the building. The two-storey children's house is structured as a four-winged building around a common center. Each of these wings becomes the individual home address for pupils and teachers of the different sponsors in the building.
