German Embassy Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, 2013 / 1st prize / stopped after work phase 3

The site for the new German Embassy in Kyrgyzstan is located in the embassy district of Bishkek. Starting from the safety distance between the buildings and the fence, the result is an elongated construction site on two levels, on which the chancellery and residence of the ambassador are arranged. Guests enter the residence building and pass through the reception hall into the reception room, from which the men's and ladies' rooms are accessed. The linking of the main representative rooms creates an attractive inner circular route for receptions. The chancellery is entered at the lower courtyard level. From here, visitors reach the start of a centrally lit staircase that leads to the reception foyer of the chancellery in front of the ambassador's room. A consistent material and façade concept emphasizes the unity of the building, the silhouette of the building makes the separation of functions visible and supports the embedding of the building in the topography. The dialog between narrow windows and generous openings creates a dignified yet lively façade design.
