The elongated school building divides the site into two different areas. The northern apron serves to organize the arrival of pupils by bus. To the south of the school, the site staggers down a wide flight of steps to the break and sports areas. The building is made up of a rhythmic sequence of classrooms and inner courtyards, which are linked by a perimeter walkway. Higher-level functions (assembly hall, sports hall, congregation) are arranged at the two ends of the building. Thanks to the Egyptian climate, the building can be accessed entirely from the outside. The pergolas are protected from the sun and wind by a perforated filter layer that reinterprets the traditional Egyptian element of the colestra. The solar-powered ventilation concept combines a minimum of technical building equipment with a maximum of thermal comfort.
