Osnabrück, 2017 / 2nd prize

A solitary building occupies the site in such a way that, together with the two existing buildings, it forms a campus and is both a prelude and a conclusion. Thanks to its polygonality, the building forms a variety of outdoor spaces and creates an unpretentious transition to the small-scale residential buildings in the neighborhood. As a sculpture, the new building gives the function inside an appropriate and characterful expression. The interior is characterized by the spatially staged connection of the two entrances, which are located on different levels, as well as the dance and rehearsal halls, most of which are located in the corners of the building. The sculpturally conceived building is designed as a plastered solid construction, the surface of which is given a lively texture with a rich interplay of light and shadow thanks to the through-dyed, light pigmentation and broom finish.
